The Great Ketogenic Diet – Day 5 – Avocado

First thing in the morning 5.3 mmol/L (95.4 mg/dL)

I had nothing to eat, and this was post my first morning cuppa.  Basically a straight out of bed reading.  I wasn’t feeling too good so decided to have a lye in.

Post Avocado 6.2 mmol/L (111.6 mg/dL)

I had a busy morning scheduled, so fasted until I got home at about 1:00.  The next reading was prior to having the Avocado, on an empty stomach.  The only thing I did have this morning was a cup of green tea after the first test.

I was however feeling a bit faint, my wife had a cold earlier in the week.  Was it that which I had contracted, or was it down to the calorie restriction I was on prior to going into ketosis?

Time will tell I suppose, but suffice to say, tonight I literally couldn’t get warm.  I have a microlight (ultralight) flying suit, which is padded, and I wore that in the house.

After eating the 140g of Avocado 5.8 mmol/L (95.4 mg/dL)

Strangely enough, now I know that avocado is full of fat, and I know that it is a great source of food for people on a ketogenic diet, but I didn’t realise how good.  Wow.  The blood sugar actually went down after eating it.  And, I didn’t have any issues whatsoever from the tumour area.

Then, about 5 minutes later, I did start getting

feelings from the tumour area,so I decided to do another test.  To see if the blood sugar had risen.  No it hadn’t, it had actually fallen. To me, that is saying that my pancreas has produced some insulin and it was that injection of insulin that prompted the feeling from the tumour area.  Interesting stuff.

Avocado, like banana, doesn’t lend itself to being juiced.  So, I won’t even attempt it.

None Keto Evening Meal – Chile Con Carne

This was made with beef mince and regular brown rice, I did have a reasonable portion, and

checked my blood thirty minutes or so post completion. (after my cup of green tea)
